Maria Barbara Barbarani is a Yoga Master with a diploma from EFOA (European Federation of Oriental Arts) University in Rome, Italy which was founded by André Van Lisebeth. She has integrated her studies with  holistic disciplines from both Eastern and Western traditions like osteopathy and Postural Rehabilitation. In India, she continued her studies in Rishikesh with Yoga Master Sadhana Murty at the Omkaranada Ashram and in Varanasi with Yoga Master Smrity Singh.

She also has a parallel education in the performing arts which helps to characterize her search and the Balavidya method – a method she created and adapted to teaching and personal needs in both yoga and theatrical work. In 1996 she earned her diploma at the “Paolo Grassi” School of Dramatic Arts in Milan, Italy. In the field of theatre, she worked until 2008 as an actress, director, course organizer and acting coach at leading Italian schools and theaters. In the field of voice work, she studied at Milan’s prestigious “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory;  jazz singing with Daniela Panetta; opera singing with maestro Shuko Takahasi and carnatic singing in Pondycherry, India. In the field of contemporary dance, she worked on a common project for two years with choreographer Erica Giovannini.

Barbara’s teaching activities are aimed at those who practice yoga, as well as those in the performing arts, at all levels in both permanent laboratories and short-term seminars, as well as personal technical trainer for actors, dancers and singers.    
She has also worked with gyms, other Yoga Centers, Pilates Centers and Medical Offices, offering specific seminars in both Italy and the USA (NYC).
She's been invited to lead a “Yoga and Voice” Masterclass during the “Milan Yoga Festival 2010”.

She is a contributor of the Italian edition of ‘Yoga Journal’, and she appeared in "Gente" (People) popular Italian Magazine and in Italy’s La Repubblica magazine ‘Velvet.’
